More info about Training

You can expect professional, kind, and educated support when reaching out to Contented Canine for training or behavior consulting. For all behavioral concerns, we will meet you and your dog where you are and prioritize improving the quality of both your lives.

Our training methods are backed by science and derived from learning theory. The best learning occurs when the learner feels safe and is not threatened by the potential of a punishment being applied if they get it wrong. That's a long way to say: we use positive reinforcement and force-free training methods.

And, we don’t judge! If you are using a prong collar or e-collar on your dog, but you are interested in learning more about force-free dog training methodology, Contented Canine is happy to support you in your journey.

We are here to help you with any of the following:

  • New dog or puppy integration into household
  • Puppy socialization and skills
  • Manners (Jumping up, pulling on leash, barking)
  • Recall
  • Reactivity
  • Fear & anxiety
  • Cooperative care
  • Hiking and camping skills
  • And more, just ask!

More info about Walking

On our exercise and enrichment walks, your dog will be relaxed and happy. They will be encouraged to exhibit natural dog behaviors such as sniffing, zig-zagging, and even digging – as long as it’s not in someone’s front lawn! The goal is to allow your dog to be a dog, and to help them get some good old-fashioned movement in. After all, a walk is their special time, and it may be one of the only times they get to explore the outside world that day.

If you would like your dog’s walk to have a bit more structure, we can incorporate training games. These training walks will help your dog learn loose leash walking skills, improve leash reactivity, and help to meet your dog’s exercise needs, all bundled together in a single walk.
